A Lust... Felt Art by CASTLE

Michaela Smith (RO Dream Fulfilment Specialist) - Friday, October 10, 2014

Okay, so once in a while we stumble upon something really special out in the vast lands that are the Internet. This time it's the absolutely charming, colourful and quirky felt art prints by CASTLE. Rachel Castle is an Aussie born designer who has worked in the homewares industry for the past 20 years, both in good old Aus and overseas.

Every print sewn, printed and painted by Rachel herself and each piece is imbued with such a sense of joy and sunshine. Some of these made us grin from ear to ear, some of them made us laugh out loud. There's a few hints to classic Aussie slang as well as nods to pop culture that make the whole range so accessible and unique.

These are just a few of our faves, but if you have the time you really should have a scroll through their site and see them all!

A Crush... Emily Isabellas Plant People

Michaela Smith (RO Dream Fulfilment Specialist) - Tuesday, September 30, 2014

We are absolutely blushing with joy over these super sweet plant people created by designer, illustrator and fellow dreamer Emily Isabella. Based in New York, Emily makes incredibly unique and colourful prints and textiles for a range of projects and collaborations. We found her via her tumblr where you can get an insiders glimpse into her world and work.

All of her work makes us want to hold hands and skip through fields of flowers, and these adorable plant people look like they are living the dream. Check out some of our faves below!

An Obsession... Crazy Lighting

Michaela Smith (RO Dream Fulfilment Specialist) - Thursday, April 24, 2014

Lately we've been feeling a little bit of a decorating itch. We know the studio is full of bright, colourful and crazy decorations - almost to it's capacity - but we need MORE! The only place left to explore is the roof and with an abundance of unique and eccentric lighting options out there we took a dive into the world of lighting. Take a look at some of our favourite fixtures from around the internet!

From Pinterest.

From BitRebels.com.

It's a pity that the roof is too low to accommodate any of these particular ideas, maybe in our dream studio!

Okay, so this might just be the cutest DIY project we have come across in a while (and thats saying something!). Who can resist some tiny, fluffly, brightly coloured fruit pom poms. We stumbled across this fabulous tutorial from Mr. Printables, one of our absolute favourite blogs and we just knew we'd be running to Lincraft for some neon wool! This one is particularly good for little ones too!

Check out some of the cute-as how to's below.

A Love... Cactus Watercolours By Afsaneh Tajvidi

Michaela Smith (RO Dream Fulfilment Specialist) - Wednesday, March 26, 2014
Etsy is quickly becoming our new favourite site! You can find the most scrumptious, cute, colourful and amazing things.

Our latest find are these completely adorable Cactus-themed watercolour prints by Afsaneh Tajvidi. Born and raised in Iran, Afsaneh moved to Canada to study computer engineering and web programming. Sitting in front of computers for so long led to back problems so Asfaneh moved away from the keyboard into a life of ART!  She makes lovely childrens artwork too, but our faves are these adorable cactus prints!

Our new Sahara collection takes inspiration from the harsh yet beautiful desert landscapes. Cacti and prickly pears are a huge part of the landscape so it's no surprise that we are loving them right now!

A Lust... Noma Bar Prints

Michaela Smith (RO Dream Fulfilment Specialist) - Wednesday, March 12, 2014

There's really nothing like a fun, bright print to spice up a room. And recently we can't seem to stop lusting over Noma Bar! His tongue in cheek design and bold colour use make for witty prints that definitely make you look twice.

His clever manipulation of simple icons gets straight to the point and always bring a smile to our faces. There's no wonder that he is one of the world's most in-demand illustrators.

These are a few of our fave prints by Bar.

An Inspiration... Claire Desjardins

Michaela Smith (RO Dream Fulfilment Specialist) - Monday, February 24, 2014

If there's one thing we love at Ruby Olive it's colour. And no one uses colour quite like our new favourite artist Claire Desjardins.

Hailing from Canada, she is part of a legacy of artists in her family history. After working for many years as a graphic designer, in 2011 she put down the keyboard and mouse and dusted off her paintbrush. And the world is a better place for it! Her works have been featured around the world, most notably in association with Urban Outfitters, with prints on bags, rugs, bedding and home accessories.

The fabulous use of bright colours, abstract designs and textured paints come together to produce beautiful paintings that come to life. We are absolutely LUSTING after these gorgeous canvasses in particular.

Check out more of her work at Saatchi Art.
